Help
with Real Player
Real Player by Real Networks is a popular streaming media player
because it has consistently set the benchmark for streaming media
performance and options. Also amid the noise and advertisements
on their home page,
you can find a link to download the Player for free.
If you are having problems viewing content with Real Player, please
check the following circumstances.
Make sure you have the latest version of the Player installed.
You can visit Real
Networks, here, to check what the latest version is for your
operating system.
Make sure you are not behind a firewall that is restricting access
to Streaming content. Many companies and colleges are now restricting
access to some kinds of Internet content, usually for the purpose
of alleviating bandwidth concerns. If you are interested in an event
and your Network is blocked from receiving Streaming Media Content,
then make sure to arrange in advance access through your Network
Administrator.
Finally, you may find in some cases you may have success if you
set your "RTSP" and "PNA" settings to be used
under the "Transport" settings in the "Preferences"
panel of Real Player to HTTP only. This means unchecking every option
but HTTP. "Preferences" can be found under the "View"
menu pull down. The look and feel of the different versions of the
Player differs, and these settings may be found elsewhere in your
version Player.
